About Marbls
A personal library for the software you use — and a community catalog for finding more of it.
What is Marbls?
Marbls is two things. It's a library — a running record of the software you actually use, that you build up over time and that travels with you across reinstalls and new machines. And it's a directory — a community-driven catalog of productivity tools, developer utilities, creative apps, and everything in between, for finding the next thing to add.
Every product in the catalog is submitted by a real user and goes live immediately — no approval queue. Every submission URL is checked against Google Safe Browsing automatically. Rankings are driven entirely by how many personal libraries a product is in — no sponsored placements.
Your library
Every account gets a library, and it's the first thing you see when you open Marbls — not a feed of things to discover. Add the software you use, mark it as using, tried, watching, or dropped, rate it, and leave yourself a private note. Marbls keeps track of when you added something, so "what was I using eight months ago, on my old machine" is a question your library can just answer.
Your library also gets a public page by default — marbls.app/yourusername — because a real person's setup, with real history attached to it, is worth more than another top-ten list. You can make it private any time in settings.
Why we built it
Most software discovery today happens through search engines optimised for ad revenue, app stores with opaque ranking algorithms, or word-of-mouth threads that disappear after a week. None of these give you a reliable, browsable, trustworthy record of what's out there.
Marbls is the catalog we wanted to exist — curated enough to be useful, open enough that anyone can contribute, and honest about what it knows and doesn't know about a given product.
But discovery only gets someone here once. A library that's actually useful to the person who built it — a real record of their own software, not just ours — is what brings them back.
How it works
Anyone can submit
Create a free account and submit any software product — yours or someone else's. Fill in the name, tagline, category, and a link to the product's website.
It's checked, not reviewed
There's no approval queue. Every submission URL is checked against Google Safe Browsing automatically, and flagged links are rejected outright. Reported listings are moderated reactively after the fact.
The community ranks it
Products are ranked by how many personal libraries they're in — a real signal of actual use. There are no paid placements. Editors' picks are chosen by the Marbls team for exceptional quality or utility.
Safety checks
Every submission's URL is checked against Google Safe Browsing the moment it's submitted. Flagged URLs are rejected outright. The result is shown publicly on every product page — clean, flagged, or skipped if the check couldn't run — so you always know the current status.
A clean check is a signal, not a guarantee. We encourage you to download software only from sources you trust, and to keep your operating system and security software up to date. Found something that shouldn't be here? Use the Report button on the listing.
The Founder badge
The first developers to claim a product they own receive a permanent Founder badge on their profile. It's our way of recognising the makers who helped build the early community. Check availability →
Claiming your listing
If you're the developer of a product on Marbls, you can claim its listing by proving you control the domain — email match, a meta tag, or a DNS TXT record. Claiming gets you a verified badge, full control over the listing, and community edit suggestions sent to you for review. It's free, like everything else here.
